A grand concert production in which children step onto the stage not merely as learners, but as young artists – guided through music, theatre, storytelling, rehearsal discipline, and the rare grace of a beautifully produced stage experience.
There are occasions in a child’s life that do more than delight the moment. They enlarge confidence, refine expression, and leave behind a memory of having been part of something larger than oneself.
This World Music Day, Lorraine Music Academy presents The Story of Music – a carefully guided concert production that journeys through rhythm, raga, classical Europe, musical theatre, Disney, popular song, and modern favourites.
It has been designed for families who understand that artistic experiences of depth and beauty are not easily assembled, and that the discipline of preparation can be as valuable as the performance itself.
This is not a customary recital, but a supported and carefully structured production offered, for a limited number of children, at a specially considered participation contribution.
In many professional settings, an experience of this scale – with rehearsal hours, staging, musical direction, live accompaniment, professional percussion, technical support, and concert production – would ordinarily stand at a considerably higher cost. For this event, it is being extended in a limited and partially supported form so that deserving young performers may participate meaningfully.
Lead Performers are the featured young artists of the concert. Each Lead Performer receives:
Lead roles may include solo singing, solo piano, musical theatre moments, featured narration, character-based scenes, and selected world music segments.
Supporting performers are an essential part of the production. They contribute to the scale, beauty, atmosphere, richness, and theatrical effect of the concert.
Supporting performers appear in multiple segments of the production and are an essential part of the concert.
The concert preparation includes approximately 20+ hours of structured artistic preparation and rehearsal, carefully scheduled so that children may grow into the production with confidence rather than haste.
Musical Preparation
Individual musical coaching, musical shaping, vocal and piano preparation, repertoire preparation, role familiarization and early ensemble work.
Ensemble Development
Choir rehearsals, ensemble staging, narration placement, staging, and scene development.
Production Rehearsals
Full run-throughs, microphone technique, stage positioning, lighting awareness, and final concert preparation & polish.
Productions of this nature require a balanced cast, careful preparation, and artistic order.
For that reason, the number of participating children must remain strictly limited.
Roles will be assigned through a placement audition so that each child may be placed where he or she can shine to the greatest advantage.
Once the available positions have been filled, registrations will close and rehearsals will proceed in earnest.
